How are your Kids going to Eat Treats For Halloween?

This year is going to be a bit different thanks to COVID-19.  The whole economy and the regulations of the United States are different than last year.  That means that some of our favorite holiday traditions are going to change as well. I am a firm believer in changing things instead of eliminating them.  That is why when it comes to trick or treating I am still going to be participating in handing out my favorite candy boxes to all the neighborhood kids, but probably in a different way.  I think it is important to keep everyone as an opinion on how to hand out treats this year or rather they even should. We all have opinions and we all should try our best to stay safe. My big question is how are we going to deal with trick or treating this year.  Are there set rules we should follow? I am not entirely sure, but I wanted to make my own rules and put them out to see what others thought of them and if that was enough to keep our kids safe this year.

The task of having our kids enjoy treats while visiting the neighborhood is going to be a hard one.  With everyone having different beliefs and different facts about COVID-19 it is most definitely not going to be cut and dry about what to do with trick or treating.  There is one thing that is certain and that is most of us still want our kids to enjoy the tradition.  Even if it has to be done differently I think we are still going to plan on going out and keeping an open mind and heart as we visit the neighborhood.  We are also going to be giving out candy as well and it is going to be different this year.

When visiting homes our kids know that some places won't be participating in health.  We are going to respect all signs and warnings we hear and see on Halloween.  But we are also going to still visit and enjoy all the unique social distancing ideas we see.  Our goal is to compliment others on their way of giving out their favorite candy boxes and treats.  After that, we are going to collect all of the candy and take it home to disinfect it all.

Our goal is to only get and give out candy that can be safely cleaned with a disinfectant.  The COVID-19 pandemic does not seem as serious as some news stations are leading on, but we are still going to take precautions and clean all candy we get.  Then we are also going to hand out all the candy in a socially distant way.  Our goal is to separate out the treats and create individual bars across the driveway and porch.  That way we won't have to touch people who don't want it or to be within 6 feet unless they want to.  I think being safer than sorry is always a good thing and when it comes to being kind to our neighborhood we want everyone to feel welcome and safe.  So I hope these ideas are something that you may be able to use.  My hope is the tradition lives on and we all enjoy a great night of trick or treating.
