Pandemic Candy

It is 2020 and I have only left my house 2 times in the last month.  Pandemic has caused my state to completely shut down and quarantine so I am now stuck inside.  I work from home, I sleep at home and I am supposed to have fun at home. I find it rather difficult to do any of these things well, but when it comes to eating, I am on top of things.

So what is the best choice of candy for a quarantine?  That is a very complicated question and I can only answer it as to the best of my knowledge from spending a month at home and only being able to go out to get candy refills twice.

One might argue that a hard candy is the best choice for staying in.  The benefits of it are that they usually last a long time and provide minutes and sometimes in the case of jawbreakers hours of enjoyment.  Some hard candy boxes are packaged to last a long time.  They are sealed from the elements making me think that they will last a very long time.  The freshness of hard candy seems to be a bonus as well since the labels with the expiration date are usually longer than other candies.  Hence jolly ranchers, nerds, and all kinds of hard candies get an A plus in my book for being a fantastic Pandemic Candy.

But what about licorish.  I know the debate of Red Vine vs  Twizzler will live on forever.  I remember my first licorice candy was a red vice at my older brother's baseball games.  I can still remember the fun of those super long licorice candies.  But how do they last in a pandemic? I find that I eat them all very quickly and even an entire bag only lasts an hour or so.  This being the case and that they are rather expensive when priced with the cost of hard candies I would only rate them a B plus.  This is because they are good, but general hard candy has different flavors mixed in and I get less bored with it versus licorice.

So what about other candy that does not come in candy boxes. Yes I am talking about the candy bars of the world. In all honesty I am not a big fan of the candy bar for pandemics.  They are eaten way too fast, and have the highest calorie count compared to the other candies. The taste is amazing, but the length of lasting and replacement costs is highest with the candy bar. C mines is my rating.  So thanks for checking out my favorite pandemic candies and stay safe.
