About

No matter what season or holiday or birthday getting and giving gifts is usually a pretty fun affair.  The smiles it brings and the anticipation is really wonderful thing.  Sometimes the smallest inexpensive gifts are the best and even the ones that are handmade cause great joy.  Really gifts and presents are a universal way to bring happiness and maybe a little bit of joy.  So does presentation of those gifts matter?  In some cases it does and for myself I love to give surprise presents.  This can be taken in many different ways. You can make or buy something that they never expected or present it in a complicated way.  You could create a treasure hunt with clues that lead you from one area to another. I personally like to create surprises in the way I wrap the gift. To me there are two different ways to create a surprise present so that no one knows exactly what it is. By using shapes and sounds to your advantage you can keep any present a surprise.

Lets begin with shapes.  In all honesty many gifts are almost impossible to wrap without someone knowing exactly what it is.  If a gift is on a list that you get and its shape is obviously not similar to anything else on the list then they might know exactly what it is.  I find that changing the shape of the item is key to creating a surprise.  One way I like to do this is by using different types of candy boxes.  This is because one, most people have a favorite candy or candies and you can pick those items up as an inexpensive bonus.  Buy it is what you do with the item that helps offset the gift.  Get some tape and then put those candies in strange configurations or stack them to create new types of shapes.  This can change the size, angle and total appearance of a present and create a huge surprise.

The next way to hoodwink or buffudle the giftee is to use the sense of sound.  I love to go to the local grocery store and pickup a plethora of random candy boxes that have unique sounds.  Like getting a box of Nerds, or M&M’s.  These have a wild sound and you can tape them on to the gift or leave them free in a box to raddle about.  It can cause a stir of uncertainty when the giftee picks the present up and possibly shakes it.  So those are my tips to create surprise presents and have a wonderful time doing it.
